To be able to get an IOM measured, certified and registered in Switzerland you will have to get a hull identification number. This apply to all boats, if you order a boat, if you buy a used or new boat or if you want to build your own boat. This number should be used only for one hull and should not be transferred. It should be fixed permanently to the hull (See the current class rules A.10, C.5.1, D1.4)

Building a new boat
If you are about to build an IOM you may acquire a hull identification number that will be link to your hull, just use the form below.
Buying a used boat
If you are buying an IOM in Switzerland that has already got a Swiss hull identification number you will just have to issue a new certificate, no need for a new hull identification number. If you are on the other hand buying an IOM from abroad with a foreign hull identification number you will be issued a new Swiss hull identification number, however, the old number will still be in the boat and noted in the new certificate.
